OUR SENIOR PASTOR
Dr. Elijah Shafah
Rev. Elijah S. Shafah is a second generation preacher, the offspring of immigrants, Rev. & Mrs. Henry Borbor, of Liberia.
Pastor Shafah hails from Atlanta where he graduated Clarkston High School, Clarkston, Georgia. In 2003, he graduated from Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA, with a B.S. degree in Psychology, with a Minor in English. Pastor Shafah received the Masters of Divinity degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center (Turner Theological Seminary) in 2007 where he was the recipient of numerous academic and civic awards.
Pastor Shafah started his ministry in the Atlanta North Georgia Conference . Prior to coming to Oklahoma City, Pastor Shafah served three congregations in Georgia and one in Alabama.
On August 27, 2021, Pastor Shafah received the pastoral assignment to Historic Avery Chapel AME Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from Bishop Michael Mitchell. God is doing a new thing at Avery under Pastor Shafah’s dynamic leadership.
Pastor Shafah is happily married to his queenly wife, Lady Melanie J. Shafah, and they are the proud parents to four beautiful daughters, Meley, Trinity, and Elise. The couple is expecting the arrival of a new baby girl to the family in December. Pastor Shafah credits all his success to the favor of God along with the love and support of his family.
